A member of the VFX crew for the highly anticipated James Gunn-directed DC feature Superman: Legacy is singing the film’s praises already. A previous crew member of Gunn’s, Stephane Ceretti, is not only an Oscar-nominated Visual Effects artist, but one that has worked on DC, in Batman & Robin and Batman Begins, as well as Marvel, across Thor, Captain America, Ant-Man, and Doctor Strange franchises, not to mention Avengers: Endgame and Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. The guy has done it all, and he’s got great things to say about the next installment in the Superman franchise.
In a recent interview with ComicBook, Ceretti gave up what little he could about the movie, saying:
« I can’t tell you much about Superman. I really cannot. But all I can tell you is it’s going to be good. It’s a great script. We’re trying hard…We’re a good group. It’s all a good group of people. A lot of people that have worked with James before that he trusts. We’re a very good group in terms of being very honest to each other. So we work well in that sense. »
What we know about the movie so far is mostly casting news. David Corenswet will star in the film as Clark Kent/Superman; Rachel Brosnahan will play his love interest Lois Lane; Nathan Fillion is cast as Guy Gardner, aka Green Lantern, Isabela Merced will play Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi is Mister Terrific, and Anthony Carrigan will take on the role of a superhero named Metamorpho, whose alter ego is the archaeologist Rex Mason.
Superman: Legacy will launch the movie part of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. It’s expected to begin filming in early 2024, just on track for its currently scheduled theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
