Starring, Moses Ingram, Sheila Atim, Chris Chalk, Charleen McClure, Reginald Helms Jr., and Zainab Jah, the movie was one of 2023 Sundance’s « most acclaimed films » and will continue to grace festivals with an upcoming run at the New York Film Festival this fall. We see her as a child, an adult, becoming a mother, and all the happiness and pain that comes with that, while still giving us a look into the life of a young Black woman in the rural South. All of this is clear, even from just the trailer, setting up a fascinating and poignant directorial debut for Jackson.
