A lot of Marvel fans are curious about Marvel’s upcoming Echo series, which repeatedly went through a rough production. At one point, it was even questioned if it would be released or not. Ultimately it was announced that all episodes of the series would be released at once on November 29th, 2023, which is the first time that Marvel has done that.
The fact that Marvel is looking to dump all the episodes at once has fans believing that the series isn’t going to be good and that Marvel is just releasing it to release it. Well, Echo actor Zach McClarnon believes the upcoming Disney+ series promises to be something unique and says it’s “worth the wait.”
McClarnon made his MCU debut as Echo’s father, William Lopez, in the Hawkeye series. When talking with Entertainment Tonight, McClarnon says his role in the series is very limited, but that he had a good experience in the production. He said:
“I wasn’t involved with the show as much as I am with the other shows, obviously. It was much smaller, my footprint on the show. I only worked [in Atlanta] a couple of weeks and it was a wonderful experience.”
McClarnon went on to praise the series for the sensitive depiction of Native Americans in the scripts, saying:
“I think they got some good scripts that were written by native writers and they’ve got Sydney Freeland, who’s an amazing Navajo director on the set, at the helm.”
Regardless of the troubles surrounding the series, the actor believes MCU fans will embrace it, and says:
“It’s Marvel, first. You know, that’s worth the wait right there. It was a wonderful experience, and I think people are gonna enjoy Echo. What I read and what I saw going on down there was amazing. I was very happy to be a part of it again.”
In the series, « the origin story of Echo revisits Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox), whose ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward. »
I actually like the character Echo and how she was portrayed in Hawkeye. I hope that the series actually ends up being good because there’s a great story to tell here with a great character!
The Echo series is being developed by Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen, who are writers and executive producers on the show. The series also stars Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Zahn McClarnon, Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Cody Lightning, Devery Jacobs, and Graham Greene.
