Tonight is the night for ROH’s Best in the World PPV. The card features 5 titles fights, EC3 in action, the Briscoes starting their climb to become 12-time tag champs, and much more.

Rush’s challenger was determined when Bandido won the Survival of the Fittest tournament. Bandido’s prize was a shot at the ROH World Championship in the main event of Best in the World.

A similar scenario played out in the Pure division. Mike Bennett won a 7-man gauntlet match. He entered in the fourth position and churned out the wins to earn a title shot against Jonathan Gresham for the Pure Championship. The underlying story is Gresham not respecting the Pure skills of his opponent, while Bennett will fight to earn that respect.

There are TV title, tag title, and Jay Lethal versus Brody King bouts on this card that are part of the overarching faction warfare story with Los Ingobernables, the Foundation, and Violence Unlimited.

Dragon Lee never rightfully lost the TV title. Due to an ear injury preventing travel, Lee was replaced by his Ingobernables brethren Kenny King to defend against Tracy Williams at ROH’s 19th Anniversary. Williams emerged victorious to become the new champ. In a later title defense, Tony Deppen pulled the upset on Williams to become the new champ. During a three-way between Deppen, Williams, and Lee, Deppen pinned Williams to retain. Deppen now wants to prove he is not an underdog anymore by beating Lee.

Homicide & Chris Dickinson climbed the rankings to capture a shot at Tracy Williams & Rhett Titus for the tag titles. The Foundation is tired of playing by the rules while everyone else lies, cheats, and steals, so this match will be a fight without honor.

During an 8-man rumble between the Foundation and Violence Unlimited, King pinned Lethal. That led to their singles fight.

Shane Taylor Promotions are fighting champions. Taylor offered title bouts to whoever stepped up to challenge. The most recent to act bold is Dalton Castle.

Castle desires to bring pizzazz and panache back to ROH. He views Dark Draper and Eli Isom as prospects with something special. The two youngsters aren’t quite on board with trusting Castle, but the peacock plans to show them the way.

In a battle between mentor and student, Silas Young takes on Josh Woods in a rubber match. Young was tired of Woods being outfoxed in defeat when it mattered most. Young won the first contest by using his feet on the ropes for a pin while trapped in a submission. Woods took the rematch in Pure rules via leglock submission. Tensions escalated to Last Man Standing.

EC3 is all about finding honor in ROH. When Flip Gordon cheated to help EC3 win their tag match over the Briscoes, EC3 was not pleased. He is going to teach a lesson to Gordon.

The Briscoes are back together for tag team action after they fought out their hard feelings during the Fight on the Farm. Jay and Mark were itching to get back in the title scene, but Papa Briscoe ordered them to start at the bottom and work their way up.

Flamita turned to the dark side when dealing with Flip Gordon. The evil root took hold to create Demonic Flamita. The rudo has issues with trios partners Bandido and Rey Horus. Flamita and Horus will get it on one more time.

Danhausen recruited PCO to chase the tag titles. They will have a chance to make a statement against the Bouncers.

Matt Taven is not scheduled to wrestle, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he won’t have action. Taven will be conducting his talk show with his current nemesis, Vincent. There is no guarantee Vincent shows up. If he does, violence is sure to erupt. Taven desires to end this feud once and for all.

ROH Best in the World kicks off with a pre-show at 7 pm ET, available on Honor Club, YouTube, Facebook, and other PPV avenues. The main PPV starts at 8 pm ET. This show will also mark the return of fans to ROH. Unfortunately, streamers will not be permitted due to COVID precautions.
