Disney announced today that Marvel Studios’ Black Widow debuted to an estimated total of more than $215M globally this weekend, including $80M in domestic box office, $78M in international box office, and over $60M in Disney+ Premier Access revenue from consumer viewership. The streaming numbers alone mean two million households were willing to pay the $30 to see the film. The overall total makes it the highest domestic opening weekend for a Marvel Cinematic Universe origin story after Black Panther and Captain Marvel.
According to a press release, the film is also officially the largest domestic box office opening since the COVID-19 pandemic began and the largest domestic opening weekend since Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker in December 2019.
The combined theatrical and Disney+ Premier Access opening makes Black Widow the only film to surpass $100M in domestic consumer spend on opening weekend since the start of the pandemic.

Directed by Cate Shortland, Black Widow stars Scarlett Johansson in the role she has now played in over eight Marvel films: Natasha Romanoff, once a deadly assassin working for the KGB, now a bonafide superhero and member of the Avengers. Or at least, she used to be. In Black Widow, which takes place just after the events of Captain America: Civil War, Natasha—now on the run from the government—and the Avengers aren’t exactly a team. While she’s in hiding, she gets wrapped up in a conspiracy that leads her to confront the people she once considered family, including Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Rachel Weisz.
