Midnight Mania! Dustin Poirier laughs off ‘fabricated’ tale of wife DM’ing Conor McGregor

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Low blows may be illegal inside the Octagon, but they’re fair game in the promotional leadup to a big event. Prior to their main event showcase at UFC 264, Conor McGregor revealed earlier in the week that Dustin Poirier’s wife, Jolie, attempted to send him a direct message on Instagram. Now, the message’s content is hidden and its veracity unknown, but we think we can divine the implication McGregor was hinting at …

Speaking with Michael Bisping, Poirier appeared largely unbothered by the attempted insult. He explained, “if it was real and my wife was messaging him or something like that, then it’s a good one. But, if it’s fabricated, me and my wife were laughing at it while at the grocery store. There’s no-holds-barred in the sh*t-talking.”

Oddly enough, Jolie Poirier was brought up once again at today’s press conference. During one of the many uncomfortably forced trash talking interactions, McGregor shouted out, “You’re only a little b*tch! Your wife is your husband!” and then tried to lead the crowd in a “Jolie’s wife” chant.

Poirier accurately responded, “You used to be better than this, man.”

Of course, what actually matters is which man scores the victory on Saturday night, an accomplishment which will settle the trilogy and hand the victor a Lightweight title shot. Until then, well, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Insomnia

I know this quote is about Tyson Fury crossing into MMA, but Francis Ngannou getting a boxing license would be one hell of a response to this interim title BS.

Cody Garbrandt is officially heading to 125 lbs.

This is the worst, most blatant example of Conor logic yet, but fortunately, Khabib Nurmagomedov was there to save the day with a perfect response.

Good luck finding someone willing to get punched in the face by Daniel Rodriguez on 9 day’s notice … except Albert Tumenov has offered to step in and should be in the UFC anyway!

Some pretty epic dance moves!

Stephen Thompson vs. Gilbert Burns is a really damn good fight that seems to be flying under the radar a bit.
