LeBron James is fueling up on his own tequila before the Lakers play the Warriors in the NBA’s Play-In Tournament.
The four-time NBA champion was the special guest at a star-studded gathering in L.A. on Monday night in celebration of his new Lobos Tequila brand. Rapper Drake, actors Michael B. Jordan and Damson Idris, along with James’ agent Rich Paul were among the exclusive guests. Migos rapper Quavo and singer/actress Kelly Rowland were also in attendance.
Lenny Santiago, legendary photographer and Roc Nation music executive (a.k.a. Kodaklens on Instagram), and Paul were responsible for planning the event — a “special ‘Taco Tuesday’ on a Monday,” according to Santiago on Instagram.
Drake, Jordan and Santiago all shared photos from the outdoor celebration that featured James front and center during a tequila toast.
James, himself, refrained from sharing similar snaps, which many fans assumed was because he’d “look bad” two days before his Lakers play Steph Curry and the Warriors in the play-in. James often shuts down his social media during the postseason to allow for full concentration.
Other fans on social media wondered if James’ attendance at the Lobos bash conflicts with the NBA’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
The No. 7-seeded Lakers will host eighth-seeded Golden State on Wednesday night at 10 p.m., with the winner officially reaching the playoffs. The loser will face the winner of the No. 9 vs. 10 game for the final playoff spot in the West.
