Netflix is ringing in Valentine’s Day with a whole lineup of romantic movies, but one of them is already climbing up the streamer’s Top 10 chart: Squared Love. The Polish rom-com tells the story of an unlikely couple, with a womanizer falling in love with an unassuming schoolteacher.
But the plot isn’t quite that simple — really, Klaudia (Adrianna Chlebicka), is a celebrity model with a double life as a teacher, taking off her glasses and strapping on heels for photoshoots. And there’s another complicated character, Stefan (Mateusz Banasiuk, who is also known as Enzo, another model who’s living the high life in the big city.
Squared Love introduces The Invisible Force Of Destiny (TIFOD), a presence played by the film’s screenwriters, Marzanna Polit and Wiktor Piatkowski, that’s hatching a plan to get the two models together. With Enzo’s involvement with another woman, and Klaudia’s double life and two careers, it’s not as easy to make the two fall in love as TIFOD would hope. Still, it’s a rom-com after all, so they eventually find a way.
“Sorry, but Monika/Klaudia’s Superman routine is unconvincing. And corny. And burdened by weary stereotypes. Maybe it’d work if the film struck a more bubbly, absurdist or self-aware tone, but it takes itself about 10 percent too seriously, and struggles to find its comedic feet,” Decider’s John Serba writes in his Squared Love review.

Squared Love was filmed in Warsaw, Mazowieckie, Poland, according to the film’s IMDb page. Warsaw is known as the largest city in Poland, and also serves as the capital. Aside from its popularity as a filming location, Warsaw is also known as a popular tourist destination in Europe, with multiple museums and landmarks to visit.
