Michael Jordan card from 1992 All-Star Game sold for $1.4M

Michael Jordan may be retired, but he’s still breaking records.

A rare, signed 1997 Upper Deck Game Jersey Jordan card went for nearly $1.5 million at auction this week, obliterating previous marks, according to a Dallas-based auction house.

The rare “Air” card is one of just 23 — Michael’s uniform number — and features part of his sweaty jersey from the 1992 All-Star Game in Orlando, Fla.

Jordan netted 18 points that day, but the star-studded event was highlighted by the return of Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson, who retired before the 1991-92 NBA season after contracting HIV. Johnson was given the MVP award after his West team defeated the East 151-113.

The vintage “near-mint” Jordan was sold by the Dallas-based Heritage Auctions on Thursday for a cool $1.44 million, about a half-mil more than the next-highest Jordan card had notched.

Heritage said the record buyer of the MJ signed jersey card wishes to remain anonymous, TMZ reported.

Jordan memorabilia, especially cards, have soared over the past year since the release of  ESPN’s “The Last Dance.”
