Former UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor learned — the hard way — what happens when you’re unprepared to defend leg kicks from a seasoned MMA veteran like Dustin Poirier. “The Diamond” unleashed hell on the Irishman’s calf, reducing his mobility and taking away that “Notorious” power en route to a second-round technical knockout finish back on Jan. 23 in Abu Dhabi.
Fast-forward nearly two weeks later and McGregor is still dealing with swelling in his leg, as seen in the Instagram pics he posted on Instagram.

Ouch.
McGregor has been “harassing” the promotion for a “Diamond” do-over at some point later this year, which Poirier doesn’t seem to have a problem with. A “weird” decision according to fellow contender Michael Chandler, who instead wants the promotion to settle the lightweight title mess allegedly created by UFC President Dana White.
We should have some answers in the next couple of weeks.
