NBC lays off E!’s entire ‘In the Room’ staff

NBC has laid off the entire staff of E!’s “In The Room” this week amid a massive restructuring, Page Six can reveal.

Earlier this week, it was announced that 50 people were cut within NBCUniversal’s entertainment division after the media company finalized its reorganization under Susan Rovner’s leadership.

E! canceled “In the Room,” which was hosted by Jason Kennedy, over the summer and the staff had been helping out in other areas since then.

“Pop of the Morning” and its signature “E! News” were also canceled as a result of the economic havoc the pandemic has caused.

Other E! entities “Daily Pop” and “Nightly Pop” remain on the air and are sharing LA studio space with “Access Hollywood.”

On Thursday, Ryan Seacrest announced he was departing “E!’s Live From the Red Carpet,” which he’s co-hosted for 14 years.

The media company has been struggling since the start of the pandemic. As Page Six exclusively reported in August 2020, NBCUniversal planned to cut just under 3 percent of NBC News employees, which includes the “NBC Nightly News” and “Today” show teams.

Reps for E! didn’t return Page Six’s request for comment.
