The half-brother of Robert Fuller — a black man found hanging from a tree in California last week — was wanted for allegedly abusing his girlfriend, and holding her captive for six days before he was fatally shot by police on Wednesday.
Terron Boone, 31, is accused of assaulting the woman and imprisoning her at her Palmdale home from June 9 to Monday, according to court documents.
Boone’s girlfriend then “waited for an opportunity when he wasn’t looking” and escaped to a nearby business, where she called 911, authorities said.
A warrant was issued for Boone’s arrest Tuesday and police on Wednesday pursued a vehicle he got into in the town of Rosamond that was driven by one of his ex-girlfriends.
Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department shouted “hands up” when they stopped the car, but Boone allegedly fired six rounds, striking several police vehicles.
Four deputies returned fire, killing Boone.
Boone’s half-brother, Fuller, 24, was discovered in a park near Palmdale City Hall early on June 10.
The county medical examiner-coroner’s office originally said Fuller appeared to have died by suicide. Officials noted that investigators only found rope and a backpack in the park, and nothing to indicate foul play.
But following outcry from Fuller’s family — who said he was not suicidal — and from community members, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva announced Monday that the department had opened a homicide probe into the man’s death.
