Grounded New York, an up-and-coming black-owned streetwear label, has launched its inaugural capsule collection. We caught up with Tristan – who used to work at Aimé Leon Dore and is now the owner of GROUNDED – to get a deeper look at the brand.
According to the brand’s mission statement, “We want people to cherish their GROUNDED products because they’ll feel like a part of NYC culture, a part of streetwear culture, and a part of the GROUNDED family.”
The recent drop, consisting of two tees and two hats, is influenced by Grounded’s hometown, New York City. The Fear City Tee is inspired by a pamphlet that a union of NYPD members made to combat the mayor during the 1970s.
Tristan put his own take on the design by flipping the rules a bit to make it a tongue-in-cheek, anti-gentrification statement.
The Liberty tee comes from the iconic monument, front and center. The GNY trucker hats feature a “GNY” logo along with an abstract shape embroidered on the foam front and a mesh back, snapback.
Check out the official images below along and be sure to check out their Instagram for future drops. The tees are $40 USD and the hats are $35 USD and you can shop the collection now via GROUNDED NY’s webstore.
