Eye, Roberson miss weight, another fight scratched following disastrous UFC on ESPN 10 weigh ins

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) held its official weigh ins earlier today for the UFC on ESPN 10 event in advance of this weekend’s “Eye vs. Calvillo” mixed martial arts (MMA) fight card inside the UFC APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.

And it was a complete disaster.

Headlining flyweight Jessica Eye missed her mark by .25 pounds, but was unable to continue cutting after struggling to keep her balance. This is the second time Eye came in heavy after blowing up the scale ahead of UFC 245 last December.

“I’m done guys, I don’t think I can stand,” Eye said after stepping off the scale.

In the UFC on ESPN 10 co-main event, Karl Roberson failed to make weight for his Marvin Vettori fight. “Baby K” also missed his mark in Jacksonville roughly one month back, leading to a hotel altercation that prompted UFC to rebook their battle for “Sin City.”

Bantamweight newcomer Zarrukh Adashev also missed weight for his Tyson Nam fight.

To make matters worse, Darrick Minner never even made it to the scale and was pulled from his UFC on ESPN 10 featherweight showdown against Jordan Griffin. “The Native Psycho” made weight without incident and will receive his “show” purse.

“Long story short the weight cut was going super smooth, everything on point. Came back to nap before I hit the last five pounds,” Minner wrote on Facebook. “Woke up after a two-hour nap, started throwing up and didn’t stop for 6-7 hours. Still throwing up this morning but it has slowed down. The UFC Performance Institute nutrition and staff tried everything to get my stomach under control before they had to make the call to start rehydrating. Shout out to them, they are super knowledgeable and professional. I want to apologize to my opponent Jordan Griffin and his camp, stepped up to give us a fight. We will get this set up at a later date.”

What a mess.
